Dear reader,
It is good to approuch this topic with a kind of scientific objectivity. The result of my research can be found on Quickprogress.org. As a meditation teacher I have talked decenia about the real self. However, only after I actually realized this level of consciousness I knew the word self is a word as any other. In fact is the interlectual knowlege about the higher self an obstacle for realizing it. While thinking one understands the topic one forgets to be it.

Neti-neti is a powerful meditation that can seriously change your life.
The trick is that you do not have to actually say the words, but instead hold clearly the understanding that the words are pointing to.

I am a new meditate and the site spiritualeyes nice site. This is an absolutely beautiful meditation. To know that we are not these bodies that are finite and imperfect, but something much more deep and pure.

I will describe my meditation using the neti-neti meditation. See the Vedanta Philosophy for a full description of the 5 kosa's. These sheaths cover you causing you to forget who and what you really are.
Annamayakosa- physical body
Pranamayakosa- force sheath
Manomayakosa- mind sheath
Vijnanamayakosa- intellect
Anandamaya- sheath of bliss
As you reflect on each of these sheath's you end it with I'm not this, neti-neti.
If you can do this with perfect concentration then the mind will move aside and the vision of your on self(Brahman) will take place.

Good morning
I have been using this meditation for over 40 years and have seen the supreme self twice, inside while sitting doing this meditation and externally thru a vision. You should read the "VIVEKA-CUDAMANI" OF SRI SANKARACARYA by Swami Madhavananda and Self-Knowledge of Sri Sankaracarya by Swami Nikhilananda. Each of these books will give you a good foundation in using the " neti-neti " meditation.
To make this meditation work it will be required that you cutback your commerce with the world at large a great deal.
Another words strict control of the mind in the area's of lust, anger and greed.
sincerely

I've been using a form of Neti Neti meditation quite intensively recently. It fits in well with Nisargadatta and Douglas Harding - both influences of mine.

Dear rozi
Yes, the more you see the self at the end of this meditation, the more you will see it externally mixed in all things. Remember this self is the real you.
sincerely
