It seems that the effectiveness of creating some form of binaural beat technology was discovered on a practical level long before modern technology. The traditional Tibetan “Tingsha” cymbals or bells were slightly off pitch of one other to create form of sound wave prominent only when both bells sounded. These are commonly used in various meditation retreats in the US to announce the beginning of a meditative practice or to create a sacred space with sound. As with many of these technologies, test the bells first to make sure they provide a relaxing and positive experience for you as an individual. They are a highly portable means of producing a clear sound that many find conducive to meditative practice.

I have a particular interest in your comments, because I have been studying Hebrew meditation lately. I’ve been reading Michael Ben Zehabe’s books which prompted me to contact him directly. He is currently working on a new translation of the Bible’s Song of Songs (not yet published). He told me that he has discovered melodies beneath the original Hebrew. He is currently developing scores which serve as music to meditate by, for each chapter.
From what I’ve studied in Buddhist meditation and your comment on the chimes, it seems like every ancient culture was aware of some musical gateway, or at least, some accompaniment of music and elevated thinking.
Fascinating information about the encoding of music within the original Hebrew.
Interesting tool, and agree with you that it has to be tested individually. Some practices, like TM, prefer individual mantras, and keep its myth by keeping it private. A contemporary meditator can certainly try out different sounds to find one suited to his/her own uniqueness.
Very Nice article thanks for sharing!!
Muraqaba is a kind of meditation that helps mankind to learn about his souls and inner self. Once a man gets full understanding of this topic he can control his soul. Apparently it seems that a man doing a Muraqaba id just sitting with his eyes closed but closing the eyes does not fulfill the requirement. In reality Muraqaba is the process of deep insight into the inner soul (batin) of the body and has no link with the outside world (zahir).
Very interesting concept. Have you had any experience using Robert Monroe’s audio tracks? These cd’s use binaural beats and guided meditation and can cause extremely powerful effects.
Amazingly enough, when I received your response, my wife and I had just returned from the Gateway Experience at the Monroe Institute. I agree that their technology is quite powerful. We had a truly wonderful experience there. I plan to post an entry related to the Monroe Institute technology in the near future. Thanks for posting!
Agree….I think they can really help focus thoughts.
